Wedding reception venues???
Looking for a venue in East London / Esssex area for next summer.
Have done a bit of searching on the net but not found much that is suitable.
Looking for something nice and a bit quirky, dining for around a100, dancefloor / soundsystem, late licence on a Sunday, not too expensive.

Realistic, any ideas??

Can the OS be converted for weddings? Retractable pews?

How on earth is it possible to search the internet and not find wedding venues?

If you are typing 'wedding venues in Essex' into Google then the results are what is available.

Do you think there are seeing venues out there avoiding internet marketing and relying solely on word of mouth?

Not quite east London but I went to a weekend reception at the Samuel Pepys at mansion house. You can hire the whole place out. Has sound system and you can get caterers in I think. Cracking venue with a balcony over the Thames with great views

I can vouch for the Friern Manor. Top venue.

Considering the innvoations of modern technology and the evolution of the internet over the last couple of decades, it's remarkable that no one has yet thought to create some sort of 'online search engine' to assist with such mundane queries.

I guess until that day comes WHO is a reasonable alternative.

I can't recommend a particular place BUTi can recommend make sure the main room hosts the bar, else you will find people end up in the bar, don't separate the group, keep them all together. Seen too many parties spoilt by that.

Cheers, the Essex ones are a bit far out, looking more east london or essex borders of east london. Not too fussed about country house type do's either, but ta anyway.

We've been googling,, still are, lots of stuff but a lot very similar and we need a late Sunday licence too.

Orsett Hall is pretty nice, just off the A13 and somewhere people can stay.

I think Wiltons's Music hall used to do Weddings.

I doubt there's many more quirky places in the East End than that.

Undergoing a big refurb though so might not do them any more.

Might cost a King's ransom as well.

Yeh we've been looking at that Toe Rag, seems like the best bet so far, think they have just started taking bookings for next year too.

I got married last year at Orsett Hall, 80 people.

Great place, great people. Perfect venue.

Stock brook manor in Billericay always seems busy.

Stock Brook is very overpriced and the owner is a complete wanker.

It's also miles out of London and there is nowhere local for people to stay.

There is a place in Ley Street (Ilford/Newbury Park way) called the Business & Exhibition centre.

Not too pricey, not amazing décor but its not shabby either. I think its a perfect venue for around 100 guests

Not sure about the licence thing. Its run by Redbridge council - who also run Ilford Town Hall and Sir James Hawkey Hall (Wanstead). Both good wedding venues at a reasonable price.
